Setelah mengikuti mata kuliah ini, mahasiswa diharapkan mampu mendengar, memahami, dan merespon teks lisan dalam Bahasa Inggris tingkat
lanjut, khususnya teks audio berbasis genre eksposisi,
argumen, dan teks ceramah akademik (academic lecturing) dengan baik serta
memiliki kemampuan mencatat (notetaking) teks-teks lisan.

pembelajaran meliputi diskusi ciri-ciri teks eksposisi dan argumen, ,
mendengarkan teks audio berbasis eksposisi dan argument dalam audio teks berupa
ceramah ilmiah, wawancara dan percakapan. Mahasiswa menjelaskan struktur dan
isi audio teks, dan mengerjakan tugas dan latihan-latihan yang berkaitan dengan
materi audio teks yang diberikan: mengidentifikasi topic, pokok pikiran,
detail, ciri kebahasaan dan kosa kata.

Basics to American History aims at equipping the students with the basic knowledge of history of the United States of America from the pre-colonial era until the 21st century period. This course equips students with the ability to understand and respond to different types of texts based on the genres of Discussion, Anecdote, Narrative and Review. Students are invited to communicate the characteristics of Discussion, Anecdote, Narrative, and Review texts, and then to read those genre based texts from a wide range of reading sources. Students may also learn how to explain the structure and content of the text and do assignments and activities related to the text material in question: identification of topics, subject matter, information, linguistic features, vocabulary, cohesion and grammar.
