Mata kuliah ini membahas tentang 1. pengertian lingkup, dan sejarah perkembangan Sosiologi Pendidikan serta sumbangan Sosiologi terhadap dunia pendidikan

2. Filosofi, Paradigma dan Teori-teori, serta aplikasi metode penelitian pada Sosiologi Pendidikan

3. Pendidikan dan Kebijakan Politik - Ekonomi – Kebudayaan – Multikultur- Gender- Keluarga – Sekolah - Masyarakat- Mobilitas Sosial -Perubahan Sosial

Penekanan pada analisis, sintesis dan analisis kritis tentang fenomena pendidikan dilihat dari kacamata sosiologi

This course focuses on selected themes in the sociology of culture to understand the interaction between signs, symbols, language, social structures, forms of capital, and forms of power in the construction of meaning in our life. There are 5 issues that will be discussed with the students are 1) habitus, the forms of capital, and domination; 2) culture, signification, and symbol; 3) cultural practices; 4) Sub-culture, sub-altern, and precariat class; 5) Poverty and Labour in Global Context. The course discussed theoretical and empirical orientations, historical, and present situation within the same issues. The course assumes that the students have some prior acquaintance with classical and contemporary social theory. Students will take an active part in the discussion based on the reading materials. Students will develop sociological foundations in the cultural areas for developing the tools necessary to integrate cultural questions into their own research agendas
